Message from Ambassador of Japan

The idea of Egypt‐Japan University of Science and Technology (E‐JUST) was first launched in the Japan‐Arab Dialogue Forum in 2004. Strenuous efforts have been made since then. It is indeed my honor and pleasure to celebrate together the start of official cooperation between Egypt and Japan toward establishment of E‐JUST.

Human resources development is the foundation of nation building. Japan and Egypt encountered in mid 19th century. Modernized Egypt strongly impressed visiting ‘samurais’ in 1862 and 64.

Cooperation between these two ‘Orient’ countries, involving other countries of the region, with history of tens of centuries long civilization and culture has indeed global dimensions and will bring future‐oriented fruits.

Japan has cutting‐ edge science and technology, and Egypt and Middle East are historically “the cradle for science” and have rich human resources. I cannot overemphasize the significance of cooperation through E‐JUST. I would like to express appreciation for all the people who have been working to realize this great project.

His Excellency Kaoru ISHIKAWA
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Arab Republic of Egypt
